Longissimus Thoracis
Muscle knots in the Longissimus Thoracis are typically located about two fingers away from the spine on either side, especially near the lower ribs and lumbar region. These trigger points often refer pain to the mid-to-lower back, top of the hip, and buttocks, and can mimic symptoms of disc herniation, kidney pain, or sacroiliac joint dysfunction. People often feel a dull ache or tightness that worsens with prolonged sitting, bending, or deep breathing.
